Our nearest neighbor is Mesa Verde National Park, which is now open year-around. It is America's first World Heritage Site, and was named as one of the top 50 Places to See in a Lifetime by National Geographic Traveler. It was also voted Top Monument by Condé Nast Traveler. A new visitors' center located near Hwy 160 was dedicated in the spring of 2013.

Other nearby places of interest include the Anasazi Heritage Center with the Escalante Ruin, Four Corners Monument (where the corners of New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah meet), Canyon of the Ancients National Monument with the Lowery Pueblo Ruin, the Durango-Silverton Railroad and more.
